The focus of the marathon was to raise awareness on cancer and to dispel many myths surrounding it and highlighting preventive measures and also about the treatment available to combat it, Dr Balaji, Managing Trustee, Coimbatore Cancer Foundation (CCF), one of the joint organisors, said in a release here today.
CCF, founded n 1991, is a charitable trust dedicated to the counseling, care and support of cancer patients and their family members and functions out of the cancer wards of G Kuppusamy Naidu Memorial Hospital, here.
Recognised by Tamil Nadu Athletic Association and Coimbatore District Athletic Association, the marathon has three events, a 21.1 km run (half marathon), a 10 km run and a 5km run/walk and will be open to both men and women.
