March 2017 deadline for Capital Hospital upgradation

The Odisha government today fixed deadline for upgrading the Capital Hospital here into a Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Science (PGIMS) by March 2017.
The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by chief minister Naveen Patnaik. The meeting decided to invest Rs 170 crore in the upgradation of the Capital Hospital, Health and Family Welfare Minister Atanu S Nayak said in a statement.
The minister said there would be 26 PG seats in eight departments--medicine, surgery, gynaecology, orthopaedic, pathology, anaesthesiology, radiology and pediatrics.
While the Chief Minister was informed that construction of four medical colleges at Balangir, Koraput, Balasore and Baripada would be completed by March 2017, the medical college at Puri could be be delayed, the statement said.
