The terminal in Nagpur will come up on 100 acres of land in Waranga in Mihan near the international airport and the state government has already allocated land to the agriculture department, Maharashtra Minister for Agriculture Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, said here today.
"The terminal will be developed in partnership with private players who can invest approximately Rs 200 crore," Patil told reporters here today.
The department is in the process of acquiring land for the Thane market terminal, which a private sector group has come forward to develop, he said.
The state government is spending Rs 39.81 crore to strengthen and modernise the APMC network and its basic infrastructure, Patil said after addressing a two-day workshop on the APMC.
He said that the 'Dhanya Mahotsava' (rice festival) meant to directly sell rice to consumers have fetched farmers good prices and the state government would soon extend it to the taluka and district level.
