NBC has ordered a pilot for a proposed 'Marley & Me' television spin-off.
Former 'Sex and the City' and 'Men in Trees' writer Jenny Bicks is working on a pilot that picks up from where the Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson starrer 2008 movie left off, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
John Grogan and his wife Jenny - played by Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston in the original film - will move back to Florida, where their family finds a new stray dog on their doorstep.
The family decide to name her Marley after putting their former pet's collar on her, and soon find that she is as rambunctious as her namesake.
'Marley & Me' will be shot in the single-camera sitcom style.
No announcements on who will play the roles originated by Wilson and Aniston in the movie have been made yet.
The film was based on a best-selling memoir by John Grogan.
NBC is also currently at work on television shows based on the hit films The Money Pit and Problem Child.
