Married woman dies in Kota, case lodged against husband

A 22-year-old married woman died this morning in her in-laws' house in Kanwas town here under mysterious circumstances following which a case of dowry death was lodged against her husband and two others, police said.
Divya alias Damyanti Kumawat, wife of Mahendra Kumawat, died under suspicious circumstances this morning, Kanwas Police Station SHO Shyam Vishnoi said.
Her father alleged that her husband and in-laws had been torturing and harassing her for a car and dowry ever since her wedding in May 2016, the SHO said.
He alleged that her husband had also threated to divorce her.
The SHO said her in-laws made a call to her father this morning claiming that Divya was unwell. When he reached their house, he found her body lying on the veranda.
Following the father's complaint, a case of dowry death was lodged against the husband, mother-in-law and sister-in- law, the SHO said.
The body was handed over to her family members after post-mortem, he added.
He said the accused have been detained for interrogation and an investigation into the matter is underway.
