Seeking to enhance safety of women in the area, a group of marshalls from the civil defence department were today deployed at a park in Rajinder Nagar ward by its municipal councillor.
The event co-incided with the eve of Raksha Bandhan festival.
"Member of Standing Committee of North Delhi Municipal Corporation and councillor from Rajender Nagar (Ward No. 149) Rajesh Bhatia today dedicated a group of marshalls at Vivekananda Park (Sindhi Park) of the area for better safety and security of women," the NDMC said.
Bhatia said seven marshals from Civil Defence are deputed on duty on rotation basis to check and prevent any untoward incident with the women and girls visiting the park in NDMC's Karol Bagh zone.
He said that this measure would increase the number of women and girls visiting the park along with instilling a sense of security among them.
"Women have as much rights over the public places as men but they compromise owing to lack of safety and security measures for women. Deployment of marshals especially for their safety would encourage women and girls to visit the park," Bhatia said.
