Martyr Albert Ekka's son gets govt job at 42
Press Trust of India Ranchi A decade-long request by Bhisent, the only son of Param Vir Chakra Albert Ekka, who died fighting Pakistan troops during the liberation war in 1971, was fulfilled today when Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren handed him an appointment letter.
"I salute the martyr's sacrifice by giving an appointment order to his son," Soren said at a programme to mark the 14th statehood anniversary.
Soren handed over the appointment letter to 42-year-old Bhisent, who will join a grade-III job at the Gumla Collectorate.
After years of request by the Ekkas, Soren's Cabinet had on September 2 decided to provide a government job to Bhisent, who was just nine months old when his Lance Naik father was killed.
Balamdin, the widow of Albert Ekka, was also honoured at the function in the presence of of Governor Syed Ahmed, Union Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh and several other dignitaries at the Birsa Munda Football Stadium here.
