Police found Thomas Blige, 63, in his apartment with three stab wounds, including one to his neck, the police authorities said.
Thomas is critical after undergoing surgery at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Michigan, reported E! online.
He was taken to the hospital following a domestic dispute with his former girlfriend, which resulted in the Thomas getting stabbed in the neck.
Police believe that the argument between him and his ex sparked when Thomas saw her deflating the tires on his Ford SUV in the parking lot outside the apartment and went out to confront her.
The woman was taken to the Calhoun County jail in Alabama and is expected to be arraigned in Calhoun County District Court.
She was also charged with aggravated domestic violence in her past after she hit Thomas in the head with a glass candlestick.
