Masked man stabs woman, sets her house on fire

A masked man allegedly stabbed a woman and set afire her house when she was alone in her third floor apartment in Prem Nagar under Bada Bazar police station limits in the town today.
Pratima Jena, wife of Pratap Chandra Jena, a retired deputy general manager of a shipping company in Mumbai, was admitted to a hospital and her condition was stated to be stable, hospital sources said.
The woman was cooking when the unidentified masked miscreant entered the apartment trying to rob the place. He stabbed her and set the house on fire when she protested, the police said.

The injured woman ran out screaming as her husband had gone out for some work, said sub divisional police officer, Berhampur, T P Patra.
"We reached to the place to douse the flames and rushed the woman to the hospital," said fire officer Satyapriya Behera adding, household articles like an air-conditioner and washing-machine were gutted in the fire.
The fire tenders took over two hours to control blaze, he said.
"We are investigating the incident from all possible angles," said a police officer.
