Masked robbers attack inmates, loot gold ornaments

A four-member gang of masked robbers today attacked inmates of a house near Pollachi and decamped with gold ornaments weighing six sovereigns.
The gang gained entry into the house around 1.30 am after the owner opened the door, attacked him with a sickle and relieved his wife of the gold ornaments she was wearing, police said.
As the gang attempted to break open an almirah, the wife screamed following which the gang fled from the farm house, in Nanjegoundanpudur.
The owner with injuries on head and face, was admitted to a private hospital.
Fingerprint experts along with sniffer dogs were engaged and police are investigating.
