Mathura Bar Association strike enters third day

Works in the district courts remained paralysed for the third consecutive day as Bar Association Mathura continued its strike against the attack allegedly by followers of a religious leader in which six persons, including president of an advocate's forum, were injured.
"The strike started on April 5 by Bar Association Mathura in protest against the attack by followers of a religious leader in tahsil. It continued for third successive day. The Bar has taken exception to the attack. Hakim Singh, the President of Tahsil Adhivakta Forum was injured in the attack," Nasir Shah, Bar Association Mathura president said.
Some lekhapaals had also received injuries in the attack on April 4 and their strike entered second day disrupting works at government offices.
The administration tried to persuade the Lekhapaal Association to call off its strike. "No action has been taken against any member of the association," ADM AK Awasthy said.
"No work was transacted in any tahsil of the district as in several offices of Rajeev Bhavan, MVDA, irrigation department, treasury, registry office, offices of collectorate," Virendra Singh, president, Mathura unit of UP Lekhapaal Sangh said.
"The strike will continue till the culprits who took law in their hand by attacking us are put behind the bars," Singh said, adding the agitation would be intensified from Monday.
