District police chief Babloo Kumar today said, "In order to find out how the money for Ram Vriksh was pooled by his financer, we have decided to check the accounts of relatives as well as near and dear ones of Rakesh Gupta."
In a major breakthrough, police had yesterday arrested Gupta in Badaun, who had managed to flee from Jawahar Bag before police launched an operation to evict the encroachers on June 2.
During brief interrogation before he was sent to judicial custody, Gupta told police, "I first reached Mathura Cantt. station from where we boarded a train for Kasganj. After deboarding in Kasganj, we boarded a bus for Bareli to reach the residence of my father-in-law. After dropping my family members there, I borrowed some money and proceeded for Ghatiyaghat Ashram falling under Ushait police station of Badaun."

Encroachers at Jawahar Bagh in Mathura had indulged in largescale violence on June 2 when police wanted to evict them, resulting in the killing of 29 people including two policemen.
