Come May 27 and the city would witness a "royal marriage" between principal deity of Dwarkadhish temple, Lord Krishna, and Rukmini with a marriage procession among other rituals, an office bearer of the organising committee said.
"Not only the area around Dwarkadhish temple would be given a facelift, with rare decoration like one done during marriage of a royal family, but red carpet would be laid in about half kilometer long area for the marriage procession consisting of over hundred 'baratis'," Murari Agrawal, founder Giriraj Seva Samiti said.
Organising the marriage of principal deity of a temple is common in Mathura and Vrindaban, however, the marriage of Dwarkadhish Maharaj would be different in many ways.
While the marriage procession would move amidst chanting of religious tunes amidst beat of bands, playing 'shahnai' from Swami Ghat to Dwarkadhish temple, the nucleous of marriage ceremony would be richly decorated with the flowers being arranged from Bangaluru and colourful lights, he said, adding that an image of Lord Krishna from the famed temple would be carried during the procession.
According to Agrawal, the marriage of Rukmini would be solemnised amidst chanting of vedic hymns in front of havan kundwith performance of 'kanyadan' ceremony.
He said, the marriage of deity of Dwarkadhish temple is part of the ongoing religious functions during"Adhik Mas (leap month)" in the temple, where Nandotsava, boat festival and swing ceremony were performed recently.
