"The strike demanding the Jawahar Bagh be cleared of those encroaching it has been suspended by 20 days. All the officials have resumed their work," Chaudhary Virendra Singh, the district unit head of Uttar Pradesh Lekhpal Ewam Sangrah Amin Sangh, said yesterday.
He said the decision was taken after the District Magistrate Rajesh Kumar yesterday met the agitating workers and assured the Bagh will be vacated.
On April 2, the occupants, who call themselves 'satyagrahi', had entered the tehsil premises and attacked its employees, advocates, and members of the Juvenile Justice Board.
The workers were on strike from April 8 alleging appropriate action was not taken against the attackers.
