In support of the call given by the sadhus of Braj bhoomi to make Barsana a dry zone and close liquor shops in the area, a group of women today warned to give 'Lath Maar' Holi a miss if the demands are not met.
Alleging misconduct by drunken men, the 'Huriyarins' or women participants in 'Lath Maar' Holi backed the ban on liquor shops in the area and said they would not participate in the celebrations on February 27.
Recently, the sadhus of Braj bhumi had given a call for making Barsana a dry zone and close liquor shops in the area and given a three-day time limit to the district administration to implement their demand.
Meanwhile, SDM Surendra Kumar Singh said it is not possible to relocate the shops in such a short time span but they could be shut for two days of the festival.
He further assured of raising the issue with senior officials to come up with a solution.
