Mauled body of 42-yr-old found
Press Trust of India Erode (TN) A mauled body of a 42-year-old farmer with nail and bite marks was found today at Thimbam forest area, indicating an attack by a wild animal, officials said today.
Nesan's body was found with nail and bite marks in Kalithimbam area, coming under Sathyamangalam Tiger Forest Reserve, they said.
The man had ventured into the forest yesterday to tend to his cattle, but did not return home. His wife and relatives launched a search and found his body today.
Officials suspect it could be a leopard attack but said only a post-mortem would establish the exact type of animal that killed him.
The incident took place barely weeks after two persons, including a forest guard, were killed in the same area by a man-eating leopard, which was later trapped and sent to Vandalur zoo near Chennai.
