Chandigarh recorded a maximum of 37.4 degrees Celsius, four notches above normal.
In Haryana, Ambala recorded a high of 37.1 degrees Celsius, up by three notches while in Hisar it was 38 degrees Celsius, up by two notches. Karnal, too, had a hot day at 38 degrees Celsius, three degrees above normal, a MeT department report said.
In Punjab, Ludhiana and Patiala braved a hot day recording above normal maximums of 37.3 degrees Celsius and 37.7 degrees Celsius respectively, it said.
