Narnaul in Haryana was the hottest place in the two states recording a maximum temperature of 39.5 degrees Celsius, three notches above the normal, the MeT Department report said here.
Hisar, too, had a hot day at 39 degrees Celsius, up two notches above the normal.
Karnal and Ambala also recorded above normal maximum temperature at 36.8 degrees Celsius and 35.7 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Union Territory Chandigarh recorded a high of 34.6 degrees Celsius.
In Punjab, Ludhiana and Patiala recorded similar temperatures 36 degrees Celsius and 36.4 degrees Celsius, respectively.
The weather is likely to remain dry in Punjab and Haryana over the next two days, the MeT forecast said.
