Her latest show 'Joie de Vivre: Celebrating Life' underway at the Triveni Kala Sangam here, is yet another attempt by Maya to revisit the theme, as well as her emotions and memories in the process.
"This is not a one time theme that I have chosen for this specific show. I don't use allegorical figures, but simple, day to day images like mother and child, or children playing," the artist says.
Maya's paintings are however, not the run-of-the-mill scenes lifted from the daily lives of people.
While some figures are large in size, others are abnormally small.

Maya, however, insists that the variation is not systematic. She does it to lend a "surrealistic" dimension to the paintings.
"It gives a kind of surrealistic aspect and everything becomes possible in the universe that I create," she says.
She wants the viewers to look for the smaller figures.
"See what they are doing," she says, adding that they make her creations "dynamic".
"The larger figures are more contemplative and meditative," she says.
She admits to being a fan of all shades bright, but says she does not have a fixed palette.
"I really enjoy playing with all of them. It brings joy and happiness in my work," she says.
Having never attended an art school, Maya's tryst with the creative field began with her training in school of architecture.
"I started learning how to draw and compose with volumes due to my background in architecture," she says.
And, being born to artist parents -- Sakti Burman and Maite Delteil, obviously has its advantages.
She has learnt that "an artist's journey is never over".
She says she gets to experience what other painters experience with their colleagues, but at home!
"I'm the small fish of Burman family, but, I like that position!"
Maya's solo show in Delhi comes after a long hiatus of almost a decade when she exhibited, like this time, with Gallerie Ganesha here.
The works will be on display at Triveni Kala Sangam till November 13, and the show will then continue at Gallerie Ganesha from November 16 to December 7.
