North Delhi Mayor Preety Agarwal today visited an accident site in Rohini in which two DTC employees got killed, and demanded the city government pay Rs 1 crore compensation to the kin of each of the deceased.
Two men were killed and six others injured when a tempo rammed a stationary bus in northwest Delhi's Rani Bagh area in the early hours today, the police said.
"I visited the Rohini Depot near which the accident had taken place. I met the family members of the victims who had gathered at the depot.
"The Delhi government should not only award a compensation of Rs 1 crore each to the family of the victims, it should also offer their kin jobs," she told reporters at her office.
The bus, which belonged to Rohini Depot 3 had broken down, and was being repaired near the Madhuban Chowk Underpass around 12.30 am when the speeding tempo rammed it from behind, police said.
Eight men, who were repairing the bus, were injured in the accident. They were rushed to a hospital where Pramod and Sunil died while the six others are receiving treatment, they added.
