20th Century Fox has tapped "Maze Runner" director Wes Ball to helm the adaptation of "Fall of Gods", an illustrated novel inspired by Norse mythology.
The fantasy film is expected to arrive in 2017, said The Hollywood Reporter.
Ball will produce the "Fall of Gods" movie alongside Joe Hartwick Jr, Steve Tzirlin ('Star Wars: The Clone Wars') and Brooklyn Weaver.
"Fall of Gods" first started life on Kickstarter. Rasmus Berggreen, a concept designer and co-founder of MOOD, took the lead on the Kickstarter campaign to bring back a more Scandinavian theme on Norse mythology. The project's campaign last October was successful, raising more than USD 96,000 at the end of the event.
The book's Kickstarter page describes "Fall of Gods" as "an illustrated book inspired by Norse mythology, following Vali, a warrior haunted by his past, but who has found peace in the arms of a woman.
"For years he has lived far from society, tending to his farm and trying to forget the battles he fought...And the crimes he committed. But one day his love disappears, and he must set out to find her. He will once again have to face the creatures of Jotunheim and the powerful Aesir. Suddenly, the man he thought he had buried deep down inside has risen to the surface once more...And he comes seeking vengeance."
Other details are still vague and there is no cast announcement as of now. The movie does not have any screenwriter attached to pen the script nor an official release date.
