A 28-year-old management graduate from Punjab was allegedly cheated of 10000 Canadian dollars by three persons under the guise of providing him a job in that country, police said today.
The victim, identified as Hardip Satpal Banga, had done his MBA in hospitality industry and was looking for a job when he met three persons here, said sub-inspector M D Kad of Thane Nagar police station.
According to police, the trio identified only as Mehra, Anil and Reshu tricked Banga into believing that they know some people in Canada and can get him a job as a cashier in a three-star hotel there.
They asked Banga to pay 10,000 Canadian dollars (Rs 6 lakh approx) for arranging the job, which he obliged but they never showed up.
Police have registered a case under section 420 of IPC rw section 34, and are looking for the trio.
