MC to launch campaign against hoardings

Guru Nanak Dev was married to Bibi Sulakhani, a resident of this town, and his marriage anniversary is celebrated here every year and people in general and political parties in particularly put up such hoardings on the occasion.

Giani Gurbachan Singh, jathedar of Akal Takht, held a meeting with the sikh organizations at Gurudwara Satkartaria last year, in which he had directed the administration to remove the picture of Guru Nanak Dev from those hoardings in which political leaders have own their pictures.

The Jathedar also directed the sikh organizations not to install the Guru Granth Sahib (holy scripture) to start reciting of Guru Granth Sahib in tent, on road side and in trolleys which disrespect the sanctity of Guru Granth Sahib.

Executive Officer, Municipal Council, Manmohan Singh, said today that the Council would start a campaign against such hoardings in which political parties depict the picture of Guru Nanak Dev.
