MCC Commissioner gets gunman
Press Trust of India Mangaluru Mangaluru City Corporation Commissioner Hephsiba Rani Korlapati, facing the ire of corporators of all parties for her reported high-handedness and refusal to interact with them, has been provided with a gunman for her personal security.
Korlapati told reporters here today she had no threat toher life, but felt that she needed security to smoothly carry out her official work.
Police said she was provided the security based on her request to city police commissioner S Murugan.
The corporators claimed it was for the first time in MCC's history that the commissioner had been given a gunman for security and added that it was "sad to see she was feeling threatened."
The corporators had been criticising her for her "high handedness" and refusal to interact with them. They had even placed the demand for her transfer before Chief Minister Siddaramaiah during his recent visit to the city.
