Teachers of North and East Delhi municipal corporations today took out a candle march near the Chief Minister's residence, protesting against the "irregularity" in payment of their salaries for past one year.
The protesters raised slogans against Delhi government and MCDs for "irregular payment" of salaries, which they claimed have been delayed by months.
However, officials of North and East Delhi Municipal Corporations said that the salaries of only 1-2 months were delayed due to financial crisis faced by both the corporations.
"Teachers of MCD schools are getting salaries in time. In some cases salaries of 1-2 months were delayed," said a senior municipal corporation officer.
The protest organised by Municipal Corporation Teachers Association (MCTA) was also participated by Delhi Congress president Ajay Maken.
Supporting the protest by MCD teachers, Maken said that they never faced such "hardships" when Congress was in power in Delhi and assured that his party will "spare" no efforts for timely payment of salaries to them.
