The government, following a review meeting on air pollution chaired by Home Minister Satyender Jain, also claimed that traffic police and MCDs were yet to act against trucks that carry construction material.
An official said that the MCDs were asked to issue an advisory to all builders to comply with dust control measures including putting up display boards, failing which "they could face action" as ordered by the NGT.
As per official data, in the last one week, 112 challans were issued against persons found burning material in the open while 26 challans were issued against dust control violators and three plywood factories running illegally were also sealed.
Environment Secretary Ashwani Kumar informed that the government has recently authorised Assistant Engineers of PWD for imposing compensation against burning in the open as well as against violators of dust control measures.
