On Monday, G-south ward offices in Worli were vandalised allegedly by Sena workers late in the night, following rumours that the MCGM has decided to pull down the make-shift structure at Shivaji Park where late Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray was cremated.

"We have already lodged an FIR in the vandalisation of MCGM offices in G-south ward. We will also recover the losses from the culprits," Additional Municipal Commissioner Mohan Adtani said.

He said the civic body will recover the loss on the lines of Azad maidan violence in August, where MCGM suffered losses amounting to Rs 3,20,000.

However, losses in the Worli ward vandalisation are yet to be ascertained and quantified, he added.

Shivaji Park is embroiled in a controversy over the issue of the make-shift memorial of late Sena patriarch there. While Shiv Sena is opposing tooth and nail razing the temporary structure, the state government has directed the civic body to remove the "Samadhi".

Last week, Municipal Commissioner Sitaram Kunte had sent notices to Mumbai mayor Sunil Prabhu and Shiv Sena Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut asking them to remove the structure.
