Initially built as a title clash, the fight turned interim with Brazil's Jose Aldo pulling out at the last moment due to a rib injury. But the no-holds-barred fight between the Irishman and the American underdog does promise to be a tough contest.
The 26-year-old McGregor though is just too eager to finish off any opponent in double quick time.
"My mind is absolutely bulletproof, it's solid as a rock. I am No. 1, and when you're No. 1, who gives a s**t if No. 2 steps out and No. 3 steps in. It makes no difference who is standing across me, I will win," McGregor said.
Boasting of an identical win-loss-draw record of 17-2-0 in their respective professional careers, the two fighters will slog it out in the famous MGM Arena, known for many a historical bout including the Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield ear-biting clash and the recently contested Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao welterweight bout.
