In its charge sheet filed before special CBI court here, the agency alleged that Desai along with Suresh C Shah, the then Additional Inspector MCI, entered in criminal conspiracy with Chairman Dev Murti, Director Aditya Murti and Dean V K Shrotiya of Ram Murti Smarak Institute of Medical Sciences, Bareilly for according sanction to admit fifth batch of MBBS students despite loop holes in college infrastructure.
The CBI alleged that Desai directed Shah to conduct inspection of the college in a "lenient manner" and submit a favourable report hiding the deficiencies of faculty members and other clinical matters.
It also alleged that in criminal conspiracy with college officials Dev Murti, Aditya Murti and Shrotiya, Desai influenced Shah to submit a favourable report on the basis of which the college got nod of the Central government to admit fresh batch of MBBS students despite glaring loopholes in its functioning.
It said conspiracy has been corroborated by Shah in its statement given before the magistrate under section 164 of the CrPC. (More)
