The Mumbai police on Monday invoked the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against Rizwan Kaskar, the nephew of fugitive underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, and two others in an extortion case, an official said.

Rizwan, the son of Ibrahim's younger brother Iqbal Kaskar, and his aides Raza Wadharia and Ashfaq Towelwala were facing charges in the extortion case.

They were arrested by the Anti-Extortion Cell of the Mumbai police's Crime Branch.

All three were on Monday produced before a special MCOCA court here which extended their police custody till August 5.

Rizwan Kaskar was picked up about two weeks from the Mumbai airport when he was waiting to board a flight to Dubai ago, the official said.

Police investigations have revealed that Rizwan Kaskar and Wadharia had made several international calls to Dubai- based gangster Fahim Machmach, the official said.
