The state government will write a letter to the Centre for grant of permission for measurement and denotification of 10,000 acre land of Kanwar lake, he told reporters.

Modi slammed the previous RJD-led government for its hasty decision to notifify 10,000 acre raiyat land.

As per the decision taken by the NDA government, 5000 acre garmazarua land will remain with the Kanwar lake, while 10,000 acre raiyat land will be measured and denotified, he said.

The state government will write to the Centre to seek its permission to complete the process of measure and denotification of the Kanwar lake land, the Deputy Chief Minister said.

Referring to shortage of water in the Kanwar lake for the past two years as a result of which the migratory birds were not coming there in droves, Modi said that arrangements will be made to supply water through a canal from the Budhi Gandak river to replenish water level of the famour lake.

A DPR was being prepared by the Water Resources Department (WRD) in this regard, he said.

The state government has planned to develop the two bird sanctuaries at Kanwar lake and Kusheshwarsthan lake as a tourist centres, Modi said, adding that the Jaimangalgarh peeth located near the lake will also be developed as a tourism destination under Shakti circuit on the lines of the Buddhist circuit.
