Union Minister R Rahman Khan today blamed the media for creating a "hype" over Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and praised Bihar Chief Minister and JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar.
"The media has created the hype around Modi," the minister for Minority Affairs said when asked to comment on Modi reaching out to the minorities.
BJP's "double standards" have been exposed as its leaders "suddenly" speak in favour of the minorities after ignoring them all these years, he alleged.
To another question on Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar quitting the alliance with BJP after 17 years, he said, "Nitish Kumar is a good man and he is secular. You can't blame the fish if the water is muddy."
Later, speaking at two separate programmes in Ranchi, he said, it was the Congress-led UPA which has always been in touch with minorities and was now implementing the recommendations of Sachar Committee.
