RSS today charged the media with showing "half-truths" and "over-projecting" attacks on churches in the country, saying it "affected" India's image internationally.
RSS joint general secretary Krishan Gopal also targeted the media for 'over-playing' the issue of atrocities on women in the country and said the percentage of such incidents was much more in European countries but the media there did not create sensation.
"While the attacks on four churches in the country were over-projected by the media, due to which India's image with regard to minorities came out in a negative manner as if minorities are being treated badly.
"The media hid half the truth as according to police during the same time there were 458 attacks on temples and 25 on mosques across the country, which the media should also have put forth," he said.
Similarly, he added that with regard to atrocities on women, the media "over-plays" the incidents and also mentions caste to sensationalise, as if the entire society was bad.
"The percentage of atrocities on women in European nations is far more than us, but the media there does not sensationalise. There is a need for us to take lessons from them," he said.

Speaking at a function to mark 'Narad Jayanti', Gopal said the media world is going through a 'tsunami' as the emphasis is more on "sensationalism and showing half-truths that raises the feeling of hate and lowers the country's image."
"This is a fraud on the country and society. Bringing sensationalism in news is against the principle that news is sacred," he said.
The RSS leader also launched the website of Vishwa Samvad Kendra and honoured some journalists for their services.
