'Medium danger' avalanche warning for J&K

A 'medium danger' avalanche warning was issued for the avalanche prone areas of Jammu and Kashmir above 3500 m altitude, advising people not to venture in these areas till 5 PM tomorrow.
The advisory was issued today by Chandigarh-based Snow and Avalanche Study Establishment (SASE), which comes under the Ministry of Defence, here.
'Medium danger' avalanche warning exists for avalanche prone areas above 3500 metres altitude of Gandarbal, Kargil, Kupwara, Baramula and Bandipur districts of J&K, it said.
Meanwhile, the SASE release said Banihal Top (10.5 mm), Gulmarg (23 mm), Pharkian (5 mm) and Kanzalwan (3 mm) had received rainfall since yesterday.
