Medium sugar climbs on festival demand

Medium sugar prices climbed further at the Vashi wholesale sugar market here today on sustained demand from stockist and retailers on the back of ensuing festivities.
While, small sugar variety declined further due to reduced offtake from millers.
Medium sugar (M-30) gained by Rs 14 per quintal to Rs 3,126/3,272 from Monday's closing level of Rs 3,112/3,272.
However, small sugar (S-30) eased by Rs 3/6 per quintal to Rs 2,958/3,115 as against Rs 2,961/3,121 yesterday.
Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:
Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 3,126/3,272 (Rs 3,112/3,272).
Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 2,958/3,115 (Rs 2,961/3,121).
