Having turned a circle in film music career from debut Ichhe to Kkoli, popular Bengali singer and Bhoomi Band-spearhead Surojit Chatterjee says the prominent Bollywood trio 'Meet Bros Anjjan' never interfered in his work in Kkoli, where they collaborated for a song.
"Amar Rajkanya Re is one kind of song I would always walk the extra mile for. It has folk elements, it has fantasy, it has the same earthy feel the Bhoomi songs are known for. Having not known the three Manmeet-Harmeet-Anjjan previously, I had no inkling about their musical preferences as director, but I was happy they were familiar with the kind of lyrics and music Surojit is known for, Bhoomi has been known for" the lead singer in chart buster 'Surojit O Bondhura' album series said.
Recalling his debut in film music in Shiboprosad Mukhopadhyay-Nandita Roy's blockbuster 'Ichhe', which created history in Bengali film industry, Surojit said, "Previously I had been singing at functions and cutting basic albums. But having no idea what playback entails. What title track entails in a film."
"Ichhe initiated me into this world and films including Teen Yari Katha ensued. I also turned into a playback singer and a music director.
"Again Ichhe was a production of the Vignesh Films who are behind this movie, drawn from real life references. So we all having completed this circle in less than a decade's time."
Anjaan, of Meet Bros Anjaan fame, said, "Derived from the life story of a woman named Kkoli, the music is not synthetic but very basic retaining influences of our previous works in Hindi. If Bengali film music needs a break from the usual stuff we can see now, dare me say we are here, please try us."
The trio, who would idolize R D Burman as the ultimate in film Music, said if Bengali listeners are deprived of the stuff they come across in Punjabi-Hindi remix type Hindi numbers, irreverent lyrics and a certain peppiness, they need to self-instrospect if we are not getting stuck musically at thye same point for past few years."
"All are very talented musicians in Bengal now, some having make it big in Bollywood as well.
