Noting that the visit of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj "set the tone for the engagement" between India and China, the Spokesperson of the External Affairs Ministry said a series of steps were discussed to take forward the ties in key areas.
He said the Special Representatives meeting will happen "less than a month".
The 18th round of talks, which will be Modi-government's first, will be headed by National Security Advisor Ajit Doval from the Indian side.
The last round was held here in February last year during which the two sides discussed possible additional confidence building measures among other issues.
