The cluster, which will be built over an area of 105 acres, will attract Rs 500-crore investment and provide employment to about 40,000 youths of Haryana in next two years, an official said here today.
As Sohna is not very far from the National Capital, various leading leather industries of the country including the footwear units of Chennai, Agra and Kanpur were keen on setting up their units at the mega leather cluster, the official said.
A delegation led by Vice Chairman of Council for Leather Exports, P R Aqeel Ahmed met Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar here and sought state government's support and cooperation for the setting up leather cluster, he said adding the CM has assured them all necessary support and cooperation.
The state government has implemented its new Enterprises Promotion Policy which offers several incentives to the entrepreneurs for setting up their units in the state, he informed.
It was informed in the meeting that about 150 to 200 production units are expected to be set up at the cluster, where wide range of fresh leather products like footwear, leather garments, bags and other accessories would be manufactured, he said.
Besides, the cluster would offer training facility to youths so as to make them employable, he added.
