"The mega Tool Room at Ghatti Industrial Estate in Kathua district and its extension centre at Sanatnagar in Srinagar have been sanctioned... It will invite an investment of more than Rs 100 crore," Kitchloo, Minister of State for Industries and Commerce, said in reply to the debate on demand of grants for the departments under his charge last evening.
He said the Tool Room would help existing unit holders to procure required spares.
Kitchloo said two textile parks in Kathua and Ghatti Industrial Estates were being developed, besides a Food Park in IGC Lassipora, Pulwama to boost textile- and agro-based industries in the state.
He said 1,65,000 persons were employed in various industrial units in the state, out of which 1,32,000 were from Jammu and Kashmir.
Earlier, the minister moved a demand for a sum of Rs 432.64 crore to defray the charges which would come in the course of payment during the year ending March 31, 2015 for departments and PSUs under his charge. The House, later, passed the grants by a voice vote.
