The magic-realism film is written and directed by Claudia Myers and also features Jim Gaffigan, Maria Dizzia and Tito Ortiz, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Apart from the "Transformer" star, actors Olivia Thirlby and Alan Ritchson have also joined the cast of the film.
The story follows a young woman's quest to find her way back to world after she fades to the point of becoming invisible.
"'Shadow Girl' is fundamentally about our need for connection and seeing beyond our own experience. It's easy to get lost in a world where your sense of self is dependent on others," said Myers.
