"We have asked for an additional 12 companies of CRPF and Rapid Action Force (RAF)," a top Home department official told PTI today.
He said a request has already been sent to the Ministry of Home Affairs for sanctioning of the additional forces and the state is awaiting for their arrivals.
According to a report of the Home department, these forces are required to tame the unrest which is hitting the state at the moment.
There will be office picketing and night-road blockades on Monday and Wednesday and a bandh have been declared on Thursday, F Kharmawphlang, spokesperson of pro-ILP activists and Khasi Students Union Vice President said.

In the past one week, spate of arsons and attack on government offices were reported and more than 15 activists have been arrested so far following police crackdown.
A government college at Tura, the Garo Hills division headquarter, has been shut down by the district administration in view of the hostel being made into a platform to launch anti-government activities, Deputy Commissioner Pravin Bakshi said.
