The cabinet had earlier amended the Meghalaya Services (Conduct) (Amendment) Rules, 2015 which directed all government servants to furnish information to the government if they were holding any office in community based organisations, association, traditional body or society.
"We have approved the amendment of Rule 20B of the Meghalaya Service Conduct Rules, 1990," Chief Minister Mukul Sangma told reporters.
He said this was done after the personnel department was tasked to re-examine the rules and come up with an amendment so that it was articulated in such a way that there was no scope for misinterpretation on the government's intent.
According to the Chief Minister, the exercise was done by the government to ensure that people who were in government service, do the job for what they were paid for focusing with dedication and fulfilling their duties.
The cabinet has also approved appointment of qualified teachers in different subjects at different government colleges in the state.
