Terming the youth as the "vehicle of change", the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today urged them to use their energies and potential in shaping a new political order in the state.
"Youth are the main source of success. The young population should use their energies and potential in shaping a new political order in Jammu and Kashmir which shall be based on truth and honesty," PDP president Mehbooba Mufti said while addressing a day-long youth convention at the party headquarters here.
She said historically youths had been responsible for bringing social and political revolutions in different societies across the world.
"Our youths have all the talent, potential to change the entire outlook of the state which shall guarantee a system where every section of the society will feel empowered enough, but they need to be given chance in the system to find their worth," she said.
Mehbooba said but unfortunately the youths had become the "main victim of post-Independence political victimisation and state repression", and promised that her party would involve them in governance system to establish an honest and accountable structure in the state.
She alleged that the ruling dispensation "has miserably failed to address the genuine grievances of the youth" leading to their disillusionment with the system.
Stating that there was an immediate need to understand the anger and frustration of the youth, she said instead of doing that the National Conference-led government had created "a system which is fully loaded against them".
