Amid continuing student protests in the Kashmir Valley, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today called on Governor N N Vohra to discuss steps to be taken to maintain law and order in the state.
Mehbooba and Vohra discussed the measures to protect the interests of school, college and university students as the government envisages their involvement in situations like these cause unrest in the valley.
The student protests, which began last month after security forces stormed Degree College Pulwama and allegedly manhandled the inmates there, have been going on almost on a daily basis in parts of Kashmir.
"The Chief Minister and the Governor had wide ranging discussions, for over an hour, which particularly focused on the maintenance of law and order and internal security in the state," an official spokesman said after the meeting at Raj Bhavan here.
