Member in LS raises Salman bail issue

In a veiled reference to Salman Khan, a member today said in Lok Sabha that while celebrities get instant bail, there are 2.73 lakh undertrials who languish in jails and wanted the government to address this issue.
Raising the issue during Zero Hour, M I Shanavas (Cong) did not take Salman's name but spoke of a "mega star".
He said the "celebrity" was granted interim bail hours after his conviction by a local court in a hit-and-run case at a time when over 2.73 lakh undertrials are languishing in jails.
The governmernt should implement a recent Supreme Court direction to grant bail to undertrials who have spent half the sentence of the crime had they been convicted.
Badrudin Ajmal, AIUDF member from Assam, raised the issue of problem of high flouride content in water in his Dhubri constituency which was seriously affecting the health of people there.
He said even children are looking like old people because of intake of such water and the state government is doing nothing about it. He wanted the Central government to act in the matter.

Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Rajiv Pratap Rudy said since the member had raised the issue very passionately, he will convey it to the minister concerned so that the matter is looked into.
