Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das today said that representatives of the panchayat bodies needed to play an active role to strengthen all the panchayats of the state.
"Poor people need not to make rounds in block headquarters as their problems would be solved by panchayat secretariat," Das said at a conference of panchayat sevak and village chief of Kolhan division here.
To make the efforts effective, measures were being taken to link panchayat secretariats with Information Technology and many panchayats have already been provided with Internet facility, he said.
Das asked the panchayats officials to ensure that bona fide beneficiaries get benefits of government schemes.
He said that the government would grant fund to encourage panchayat volunteers to conduct survey of incomplete toilets in the state.
The chief minister said that the government has set a target to distribute stove and gas cylinder under Ujjwala Scheme to 23 lakh families by 2019.
He said 30 per cent of royalty being received from the mining areas would be spent for the development of villages in and around it.
No home would be deprived of pipeline water supply by 2020, he said.
