Memo on compliance of recommendations filed

A memo of issues of non-compliance of certain recommendations for the up keep of Anna Centenary Library made by Advocate Commissioners was filed before the Madras High Court today listing various deficiencies in its implementation.
The Court had earlier granted time till October 31 to the Tamil Nadu Government to rectify all the deficiencies that were pointed out by two-member Advocate Commissioners in the Rs 179-crore library, built by previous DMK regime, on a PIL by one S T Manomani.
When Manonmani had earlier sought a direction from the Court to appoint a oversight committee under the chairman ship of a retired Judge of Madras High Court to ensure the library to function normally, the court had appointed P T Asha and P Sunder as Commissioners to inspect and file a report on the deficiencies in the premises.

The Committee had already filed two reports and also made certain recommendations for revival of the library.
The petitioner today filed a memo stating that despite granting a time of nearly 1 year and four months non-compliance existed.
He submitted that substantial compliance of upgrading library with books, infrastructure and staffs and reviving the Library has not been done.
Stating that the renowned library cannot be allowed to be managed, wasted and destroyed due to "indifferent" attitude of the Government, he sought for a direction from the Court to appoint a Committee headed by a retired Judge of Madras High Court to administer it.

The court posted the matter for further hearing to a another date.
