A 38-year-old mentally challenged man climbed a 60-70 feet tall crane at a hotel construction site in central Delhi's Paharganj area last night, the police said today.
Raju, a former security guard, had arrived in Delhi from Haridwar yesterday. He used to work as a guard in Delhi's Yamuna Vihar area earlier, police said.
Police were informed about the incident at 10:15 pm.
Police said that after climbing the crane, Raju did not make any specific demands but allegedly removed his shirt, burnt it and threw it down.
After the police and fire department reached there and tried to convince him to climb down, Raju refused and threatened to jump off the 60-70 crane, said an official from the Delhi Fire Service.
The officer said that a fire tender and a skylift crane were rushed to the spot to help the police team.
