The 32-year-old victim was raped in a field last night and an attempt was made to strangulate her after which she fell unconcious, Additional Superintendent of Police Ram Surat said.
The victim's family has alleged that she was gang-raped.
They said she became mentally ill after being divorced from her husband.
Police said a case has been registered and the matter was being investigated.
