Mentha oil fell 1.30% to Rs 1,059.00 per kg in futures trade today as speculators trimmed positions, taking negative cues from spot market on subdued demand from consuming industries.

However, reports of lower production this season capped the losses.

At Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in August was down Rs 14, or 1.30% to Rs 1,059.00 per kg in a business turnover of 292 lots.

Likewise, the oil for delivery in July contracts traded lower by Rs 13.50, or 1.28% to Rs 1,044.10 per kg in 761 lots.

Analysts said offloading of positions by speculators due to sluggish demand from consuming industries at the spot market mainly pulled down mentha oil prices at futures trade.
